Founder & Marine Surveyor

Seaga Austin

14 years as a Marine Engineer and 7 years as an AMSA-accredited Marine Surveyor — Seaga Austin brings a depth of technical knowledge that most boat dealers simply can't match. Eyre Offshore is built on that experience, and based right here in Port Lincoln where the boats actually fish.

When you buy through Eyre Offshore, you're dealing directly with a qualified Marine Engineer and AMSA-accredited Marine Surveyor who inspects, commissions and signs off on your vessel personally. No middlemen. No interstate call centre. One person, accountable from spec to sea trial.

Background

25 years. Every corner of the industry.

14 Years

Marine Engineer

Seaga has worked as a qualified Marine Engineer for 14 years, covering propulsion systems, hull construction, structural assessment, mechanical and electrical systems across a wide range of vessel types. That engineering background is applied directly to every vessel specification Eyre Offshore makes on a customer's behalf — understanding not just what a boat costs, but what it's actually made of, how it's put together, and whether it's fit for the job it's being bought for. It's the difference between a salesperson and someone who can read a hull drawing and tell you whether the plate spec is adequate for offshore SA conditions.

7 Years

AMSA Accredited Marine Surveyor

For the past 7 years Seaga has held full AMSA accreditation for marine survey — the qualification required to certify vessels for commercial operation in Australian waters. Survey work has spanned recreational and commercial vessel classes including fishing vessels, charter boats, landing craft and work vessels operating under the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV). Every hull sold through Eyre Offshore is inspected and documented to surveyor standard before delivery — not as a value-add, but because that's what 7 years of survey work demands. If something isn't right, it doesn't pass.

Commercial Survey

Need your vessel in survey? We handle it end to end.

Commercial vessel survey in Australia involves AMSA accreditation, NSCV compliance, factory inspection and biosecurity clearance. As the surveyor and the importer, Eyre Offshore manages this entire process — including a factory visit to Qingdao if required.

Step 01

Factory inspection — Qingdao

Seaga travels to the build facility to conduct the pre-shipment inspection. This is a mandatory step for NSCV survey and forms the foundation of your AMSA certificate of survey application.

Step 02

AMSA documentation & submission

Full survey documentation prepared and submitted to AMSA. Covers structural assessment, stability, safety equipment, load line and operational category requirements.

Step 03

ABP biosecurity & SA commissioning

ABP compliance on arrival, local commissioning inspection in Port Lincoln, sea trial and final sign-off before handover. Certificate of Survey issued and vessel legally operational.

Survey Fee Package

Priced on application — contact us to discuss your requirements.

The survey fee package covers return travel to Qingdao, accommodation, the factory inspection and all AMSA documentation. Cost depends on vessel size, operational category and timeline.
