Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you buy.

Ordering & Lead Times

Recreational vessels (EO625 to EO850 range) have a factory lead time of 60 to 120 days after deposit is confirmed, depending on the model. Landing craft run 90 to 120 days. Add approximately 4 to 6 weeks for shipping from Qingdao to Australia, plus our commissioning process in Port Lincoln after arrival. As a rough guide, allow 6 to 9 months from order to handover. We will give you a more accurate timeline once your specific model and configuration is confirmed.

50% deposit is required to confirm your order with the builder. The remaining 50% is due before shipment — we will notify you when the vessel is ready to ship and provide photos before final payment is made. We do not release the balance until we are satisfied the build meets specification.

Minor changes may be possible early in the build process, but once manufacturing begins options become very limited. We go through your full specification in detail before the order is placed to make sure everything is locked in correctly from the start.

Currently everything is built to order — we do not carry stock on the ground. This means your vessel is built specifically to your configuration. As the business grows we may bring in demonstrator stock; contact us to check current availability.

Pricing & Finance

The prices shown are indicative hull-only retail figures. Your final price depends on your chosen configuration — engine, trailer type, electronics package and factory options. Call or send an enquiry and we will put together a complete itemised quote based on exactly what you need.

We do not provide finance directly, but we can refer you to marine finance specialists who can assist. Most buyers finance the hull, engine and trailer as a package. Talk to us early in the process and we can help you understand the total cost of ownership before you commit.

The vessel price covers the hull as specified, pre-shipment inspection in Qingdao, international freight to Australia, customs duty, GST, biosecurity clearance, local commissioning in Port Lincoln, a sea trial and our survey report. Engine, trailer and factory options are priced separately and added to your quote. Everything is itemised upfront with no hidden fees.

Beyond standard running costs (fuel, insurance, mooring, maintenance), budget for registration, safety equipment to Australian standards and annual insurance. For commercial vessels, AMSA survey fees apply periodically. We are happy to walk you through expected ownership costs for the vessel you are considering.

The Import Process

Once your deposit is paid, the vessel is manufactured at the factory in Qingdao. We monitor the build and conduct a pre-shipment inspection when complete. The vessel is then shipped to Australia — typically through Adelaide or Port Adelaide. On arrival it goes through Australian Border Force customs clearance, biosecurity inspection under the Australian Border Protection (ABP) regime, and is transported to Port Lincoln for our commissioning inspection and sea trial before handover.

All imported vessels must comply with Australian biosecurity requirements administered by the Australian Border Force. This involves inspecting the vessel for organic matter, soil, pests or marine growth that could introduce foreign species to Australian waters. We factor the clean-down requirements into preparation at the factory end and manage this process on your behalf as part of the standard import.

No — we manage the entire import chain. Freight forwarding, customs broker, duty payment, biosecurity clearance and delivery to Port Lincoln is all handled by Eyre Offshore. You deal with one person, and that is Seaga.

This is where having an AMSA-accredited Marine Surveyor managing your import matters. We document the specification and condition at the factory before shipment. If anything arrives damaged or not to specification, we have the documentation to support a warranty or insurance claim and we pursue it on your behalf. We do not hand over a vessel that is not right.

Hull Quality & Warranty

All vessels in the Eyre Offshore range are built from 5083 marine-grade aluminium — the industry standard for offshore aluminium boat construction. Bottom plate runs 6mm, topsides 5mm and transom 6mm on most models. The alloy is corrosion-resistant in salt water and does not require antifouling paint on the hull.

The factory provides a 3-year structural welding warranty and 1-year warranty on paint and accessories. This warranty is managed through Eyre Offshore as the importer — not the buyer dealing direct with an overseas manufacturer. If a warranty issue arises, you contact us and we manage the claim with the factory.

The vessels are built to international standards including CCS (China Classification Society) and CE certification, with welding conducted to a standard consistent with Australian commercial vessel requirements. For recreational use this is sufficient for registration in SA. For commercial vessels requiring NSCV survey, a factory inspection by our AMSA-accredited surveyor is required.

Commercial Vessels & Survey

Any vessel used commercially in Australian waters — charter, aquaculture, council tender, passenger carrying, freight — must be surveyed and registered with AMSA under the National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV). This is a legal requirement. The survey determines the vessel's operational category, safety equipment requirements and crewing standards. Eyre Offshore can manage this entire process as part of your purchase.

For a vessel to be placed in NSCV survey, a factory inspection at the point of construction is required. Seaga travels to Qingdao to conduct this inspection as an AMSA-accredited Marine Surveyor. Following arrival in Australia, a full survey is conducted, documentation prepared and submitted to AMSA, and a Certificate of Survey issued. The vessel then operates under that certificate, subject to periodic renewal surveys.

The survey fee package is priced on application — it depends on vessel size, operational category and the complexity of the AMSA submission. It covers travel to China, the factory inspection, all survey documentation and AMSA submission support. Contact us to discuss your requirements and we will provide a fee proposal.

If the vessel is for purely private recreational use, commercial survey is not required. Survey is only mandatory when the vessel is used commercially or for hire. That said, we include a commissioning inspection as standard with every Eyre Offshore sale regardless of use.

After Purchase

Once your vessel arrives in Port Lincoln, Eyre Offshore conducts a full commissioning inspection — checking all systems, safety equipment, engine installation, electrical systems, bilge pumps, navigation lights and hull integrity. We then conduct a sea trial before you take delivery. You will receive a written commissioning report. We do not hand over a vessel without completing this process.

We work with local marine engine dealers and installers in the Port Lincoln area for engine fitment. The engine can be fitted locally post-arrival or in some cases shipped with the vessel from China. We will advise on the best approach for your configuration and budget.

Seaga is based in Port Lincoln — you are not dealing with an interstate dealer you will never see again. For warranty issues we are your first point of contact and we manage the process. For survey-related matters on commercial vessels we are available for periodic and renewal surveys.

Eyre Offshore is an import, specification and survey business — we do not operate a service workshop. For maintenance and repairs we can refer you to local trades. For survey-related inspections and certifications, that is handled through us directly.
